Has anybody else experienced shut down, layover, or overnite parking injector bleed down caused by ethanol in non flex fuel rated EFI systems, or am I the only one who figured this out yet?
I have come to the conclusion my otherwise crisp 4.0L has developed this syndrome with the mandatated 10% addition of ethanol to petroleum based fuels here in the high temp X high humidity BiKiNi state.
I found a lot of internal damage in the carburetion of a great riding mower I bought because it was too cheap to pass up. It has an 18.5 Kohler Twin and it had a few obvious problems from a DIY'er trying to exercise TEST Skills & knowledge he obviously lacked.
Oh, BTW, TEST = Turf Equipment Service Techician and it can be learned at various schools issuing Landscape & Golf course degrees. In the case of the Kohler Carb the metering adjustment needles, like the fuel flow adjustment needle and odle speed needles developed a few crater like pits that affected their flow control negatively. Adjustment was an impossibility. Once the needles were replaced with new, and the carb disassembled & totally cleaned before reassembly the Kohler ran like a digital watch, maybe even a "Swiss Digital Watch" Heh he he he. . . .
Also the place to get belts for your mowerdecks is definitely at Tractor Supply. They have Kevlar severe duty Vee Belts that are the answer.

My point is this experience with an otherwise excellent big riding mower, 46" cut, 18.5 hp 6 speed yard tractor is just what made my think about the intermittent miss my otherwise excellent 95 XLTN has developed when it sits for a few hours.

I get the odor of Alcohol around the vehicle, and when I start it after it has been sitting I have a dead cylinder that eventually clears up and runs fine after a few minutes at road speed and conditions.
I have no DTC codes, but If I get on an interstate and take it up to speed before the cylinder clears up, it will display the CEL that will not go out until I shut it off for a few minutes. Then run it until it clears out/up & begins to run smooth. After that It will run interstate speeds sans CEL coming on.
